Thank you for agreeing to speak at PATH. The following information should help you in preparing for the event.
Who is PATH?:
Positive Alternative Therapies in Healthcare, Inc. is a non-profit educational organization established by concerned citizens, professionals and cancer survivors who were no longer content to watch their family and friends suffer from preventable and curable health problems. PATH believes that most diseases are rarely due to "natural causes", but more likely influenced by environment, nutrition and lifestyle considerations.
Although conventional medicine excels in medical emergencies, it has proven increasingly incapable of dealing with chronic disease. As a result, millions of Americans have chosen to pursue natural, non-toxic methods to treat and prevent disease. PATH was organized to help citizens make an informed decision about alternative and scientifically proven modalities to attain wellness.
Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Beth David Congregation, 2625 SW 3rd Ave, Miami, FL 33129. There is free parking in the gated lot behind the building. You will need to show a photo ID. From the parking lot, enter through the rear of the main building and head straight down the hall to the ballroom.
Members and guests begin to arrive at 7:00 p.m. for networking and sign in. You should plan to arrive between 7:00 and 7:15 p.m. Our first speaker goes on at 7:30 p.m. and speaks for about 15-20 mins with 5-10 mins for Q&A or an exercise. We then have a moderated 5-10 minute caring/sharing and announcements segment followed by our keynote speaker at 8:00 or so. Our keynote speaks for about 30-45 minutes followed by Q&A or an exercise and then we close with any final announcements, including our speakers for the next month and draw tickets for the door prizes (books, speaker donated products or services and other sponsored items).
Depending upon the topic, we have typically had between 50 and 100 people in the audience. Our members are health-conscious individuals who value the importance of taking responsibility for their own health. Members come from all walks of life, lay persons as well as professionals. Many of them are very well read when it comes to natural wellness, some are educated in the subject while others may be quite new to the ideas but looking to learn more.
Selecting Your Topic and Planning Your Talk:
In some cases we may have approached you to speak on a very particular subject and in other cases the topic may have been more general. Your talk should be targeted to the general public and not to a clinical audience. It should include substantiation of your concepts together with your case experience. It should be dynamic, interesting, thought provoking and present ideas that the audience will find new. If you use Powerpoint, large images with few words are best.
Promoting The Event:
As soon as your speaking date and topic have been confirmed, PATH will include the following promotion:
